I just found out that I've been awarded a one-week residency from Centrum at Fort Worden State Park! Centrum is an arts organization that hosts a myriad of arts events and provides residencies and studio space for artists year-round. Fort Worden is a turn-of-the-century former military base on the Olympic Peninsula with miles of trails, beaches, old clapboard-sided officers' houses, creepy gun batteries, dark tunnels, and a working lighthouse. I'm going to work on my current projects, but I can feel a murder mystery bubbling to the surface just thinking about the atmosphere I'll be working in. I'm so honored to be a part of this arts community and grateful for the time they are giving me to work independently in such a beautiful place. Wish me luck!
There's a fun writing exercise called "playing town" I borrowed from Louise Fitzhugh's classic children's novel HARRIET THE SPY over at Project Mayhem today. Stop by and add to the mayhem!
My website has a new look! I've switched to a Square Space site and have found the format much easier than my previous platform. I plan to import some of my old blog posts, but mainly this will serve for new material moving forward.
I've been writing regularly with a group of other Middle-Grade authors for the blog Project Mayhem. The Articles tab has links to my posts, but you should definitely check out what other contributors are posting over there too. Great stuff on writing, the publishing industry and Middle-Grade books.
I've started work on the second novel in the JULES series and it's shaping up to be a fun adventure already. I also have some adult non-fiction up my sleeve and the change in subject matter has been a good challenge and a nice mental break from fiction when I need it.
Last of all, check out the Contact tab for fresh links to my Pinterest, Good Reads, and Instagram.
That's all for now! Stay tuned for new posts. Cheers!
